Education

Overview

As part of its objectives, CPEDaL develops educational initiatives that allow to increase the interest in Pharmaceutical Engineering at different academic levels.

K-12 Outreach

Guided visits and hands-on modules

K-12 students visit the facilities of the Pharmaceutical Operations Laboratory

ERC-SOPS Summer Camp

A summer experience where a group of High School students visit the university facilities for one week. Hands-on modules are performed by the students to teach them the basics on solid drug manufacturing

Undergraduate

Objective

To prepare students with a deeper knowledge in pharmaceutical engineering. Specifically, students will have a better knowledge, fundamental and practical, of the operations that the pharmaceutical industry uses and developed the skills they need for manufacturing; understand problem solving, the application of statistics to detect and solve problems, the development of strategies, etc. This combination makes the student more competitive to work in local pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.

Minimum Admission Requirements

The student interested in the minor concentration must inform the interest of completing the same according to the required by the Certification 69 and at least to the Department of Chemical Engineering. The requirements to be able to declare the intention to complete the minor concentration in pharmaceutical engineering is that the student is a regular student in the RUM and assigned to INQU, that has more than 2.50 of GPA, and that has approved Calculus II (MATE 3032) . It is suggested that the student declare his intention to enter the Minor Concentration in the second semester of the third year of study in the RUM. The latter requirement is intended to ensure that the minor concentration can be completed within 150% of the time required by your curriculum (as stipulated by Certification 69).
