October 12, 2015- The University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and Pfizer® co-hosted the 2015 seminar on Trends in Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing at the Center for Pharmaceutical Engineering Development and Learning (CPEDaL) to promote a broader uptake of advanced manufacturing technologies in the pharmaceutical industry, enhance industry-academia collaboration, develop talents and accelerate regulatory awareness and acceptance, with a focus on Puerto Rico. The seminar was focused on pharmaceutical company leaders, decision makers, R&D, manufacturing technologists, quality assurance, quality control personnel, professors and students. Over 60 attendees took advantage of all the material presented.
The seminar was divided in two main areas, namely: initiatives in place to advance adaptation of new manufacturing technologies and examples of actual applications. The objective was to emphasize that there are initiatives already running and that we should take advantage of them. The representatives of Pfizer Headquarter were pleased to see that we are aligned with their project, led by Dr. Mojgan. The second objective was to make aware the attendees of real applications of advanced technologies. This is crucial since most pharmaceutical companies are in a manufacturing transformation mode.
The activity started at 9:00am with a welcoming message from Mojgan Moshgbar, the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at Pfizer and Carlos Velázquez, the C-PEDaL Director. We highlight the participation of Mr. Kevin M. Nepveux and Dr. Alton Johnson, vice presidents of Pfizer GTS, Dr. Mojgan Moshgbar, Director of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Dr. Sigfrido Garcia, Director of the Product Enhancement Center of Pfizer Guayama. Below is a complete list of the presentations and the speakers.
We. at CPEDaL, greatly appreciate the opportunity given to us by Pfizer to cohost this high-impact seminar. Please, stay tune for next seminars.
